Ylva Rancken-Lutz
Jag är konsthantverkare och sociolog med en masterexamen från Lunds universitet (2009). Mitt specialintresse är social hållbarhet, vilket jag utforskar genom olika kreativa uttrycksformer som fotografi, film, ljud, keramik, textil och på senare tid även choklad. Den röda tråden är för mig att belysa frågor kring demokrati, social hållbarhet och ett rättvist samhälle. Inom sociologin har jag varit nyfiken på hur sociala rum i staden skapas, vilket inkluderar både dess fysiska och kulturella aspekter, och hur denna plats i sin tur påverkar våra liv och interaktioner. Jag tror att konsten har en unik kraft att skapa förändring och medvetenhet, och därför har jag i mina kulturprojekt ofta sökt samarbete med konstnärer och andra kulturarbetare.

I am an artisan and sociologist with a master’s degree from University of Lund (2009). My special interest is social sustainability, which I explore through various creative forms of expression such as photography, film, sound, ceramics, textiles and recently also chocolate. The common thread is to shed light on issues around democracy, social sustainability and a fair society. Within sociology, I have been curious about how social spaces in the city are created, which includes both its physical and cultural aspects, and how this place in turn affects our lives and interactions. I believe that art has a unique power to create change and awareness, and therefore in my cultural projects I have often sought collaboration with artists and other cultural workers

The art of chocolate
2018 I took a course in crafting painted multi-layered hand-crafted bonbons. After explore this culinary art form I later started teaching others how to make painted, filled chocolate bonbons.

In 2014 I was one of the finalists to the city of Malmö’s Citymart challenge “Revitalizing with collaborative consumption” with a Pop-Up Re-Make Café project.

in 2008 I initiated Aura Street Market (2008 – 2011) which was a street festival in the streets along the river. in Turku
Ekenäs isslott
Under några kalla vinterveckor 2021 skapade vi ett isslott i Ekenäs. Det blev ett vackert kollektivt projekt på alla sätt.

Handcraft and fine arts
After attending handcraft school I spun and wove folk dresses for Brage dräktbyrå. I studied fine arts and antropologi at University Wisconsin Eau Claire 1980-1983, had my own ceramics studio and loom and have since been both practicing and teaching ceramics, weaving, candle making and lately sashiko.
Goldsmith College
I attended Goldsmith College Urban Photography summer course and this was my final project. I fell in love with the memory benches in London!
