A fellow blogger – Mats Söderlund – has published on the Crop Factor blog the first photograph taken in Finland.  Wow!  It really looks as something someone could have taken with a pinhole camera at our Photography summerschool at Goldsmith! It was taken by Henrik Cajander, a doctor who lived on the very street the photo was taken. The photo dates back to 1842 and is taken in Turku/Åbo in Finland’s oldest city. The building on the photo was called the Nobel house, on Uudenmaankatu 8. The beautiful building had just been finished when the photo was taken. It was as so many beutiful houses demolished by the City of Turku in 1961. The year I was born.
