Students and elderly live together at Dutch nursing home

A nursing home in the Netherlands invited university students to live rent-free alongside the elderly residents. In exchange for an apartments, the Humanitas retirement home in Deventer, Netherlands, requires students to spend at least 30 hours per month being “good neighbors,” Humanitas head Gea Sijpkes said to PBS NewsHour.

What an marvelous and simple solution for loneliness among both students and elderly and the lack of student housing. In addition, this is a good example of an exchange of services we need, should encourage and work towards – why should money always have to be involved in these kinds of exchanges? (read more)
