In the café Serra dei Giardini where  I am sitting in Venice I could pay for an extra cup of coffee – an ancient Neapolitan tradition where one pays for a pending coffee. Someone penniless who craved a coffee could just step into a bar and ask if there was a pending coffee.

A great and simple idea!
